Advanced Dental Technology
The point of technological advancement is to make life easier and more comfortable, and the same is true in the world of dental care. Modern dental technology helps us generate clear, accurate pictures of all of your oral tissues, and makes your dental treatment less invasive, more comfortable, and more esthetically pleasing.
What We Use
Digital X-Rays – Safer and more effective digital X-rays emit up to 80 percent less radiation than traditional ones, and produce high-resolution images immediately. The images are projected to a chairside monitor, where Dr. Schmidt can clearly show you the state of your oral health, and what your treatment options can accomplish.
Intraoral Camera – An intraoral camera is a tiny video camera that magnifies the view inside of your mouth. The small camera is controlled by a hand-piece and can be moved around to view any specific tooth or area of your mouth.
DIAGNOdent – DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection measures laser fluorescence in your teeth’s structures, highlighting difficult-to-see spots of enamel erosion that indicate early tooth decay. Early detection with DIAGNOdent helps reduce cavity development, by allowing Dr. Schmidt to treat tooth decay before the holes have a chance to form in the tooth’s enamel.
Prophy Jet – Preserving tooth enamel is as important as cleaning bacteria-rich plaque off of your teeth. Prophy Jet technology utilizes a pressurized spray that contains water and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) for a gentler, more effective teeth cleaning and polishing.
Ultrasonic Scaling & Root Planing – When bacteria settle under your gums, they irritate the tissues, causing inflammation, gingivitis, and if left untreated, severe gum disease. Scaling and root planing means cleaning infectious oral bacteria from underneath your gums and polishing the root surfaces, allowing your gums to heal before gum disease sets in.
